Mscapes is a mobile media gaming platform that can be used to create location-based games with the players GPS location an element of the gameplay by moving from place to place. The Mscape platform is flexible and encourages developers to use Mscape to create not just games, but also informational guides to points of interest, imaginative stories about places, and practical information about worksites.
Designed in Devon members are invited to come along and find more on Mscapes (short for mediascapes) programme and Pervasive Media work from industry expert Phil Stenton who manages the Pervasive Media research in the Pervasive Computing Lab at HP Labs Bristol.
Phil Stentons presentation will chart a journey from the bubbling test tubes of Ubiquitous Computing through the emergence of 'wearables' and street art to the current opportunities and challenges of Pervasive Media. Videos and demonstrations and will illustrate stories from over a decade of exploration at the confluence the physical and the digital.
